Macarthur Anglican Junior School
Two existing buildings within the school grounds were renovated with new extensions to revitalise and improve the teaching and learning spaces. The new additions saw withdrawal spaces, staff rooms and shared practical activity spaces, catering for the flexible nature of 21st century teaching practices.
Designed by Mayoh Architects, the biophilic design principles such as natural shapes and forms, environmental features and restorative patterns, were at the heart of the design with use of natural materials and forms, natural light, and cross ventilation. Another notable design feature was the utilisation of low-maintenance and environmentally sensible materials.
DecorZen, DecorLux and Vogl were installed in the various spaces within the renovation, all harmoniously working together to attain the look of natural materials and textures whilst achieving a high acoustic performance. These low maintenance, sustainable, fire compliant and durable products were the perfect fit for an educational building.
DecorZen in our Smartlook Hoop Pine finish is featured in one of the large practical workspaces. The perforated ceiling panels seamlessly work with the natural finish of the floor, adding warmth and comfort, critical to education design. Zen’s group 1 fire rating is the ideal acoustic solution for a school environment.
Vogl integrates itself in the ceiling of the classrooms, joining the split spaces together through the continual use of the product spanning the whole building. The white fibre cement panels brighten up the space and enhance the natural light.
Lastly, Decorlux is a standout acoustic solution in this project. Installed on the outside ceiling of the buildings, the timber look finish ties the building together whilst achieving the biophilic nature of the design.
These highly durable and weather resistant acoustic panels are the ideal fit for outside use. Due to Lux’s group 1 fire rating and non-combustible composition, it is the ideal solution for educational buildings, ensuring the safety of students and teachers.
The robust perforated fibre cement construction delivers exceptional acoustic performance with a sleek, modern aesthetic. The panels can be printed with timber finishes to match other timber linings within the internal areas of a project.
