Decor Systems is proud to contribute to the recent fit-out completed by Carr Architects for Russell Kennedy’s expansive workplace in Melbourne’s CBD. Carr’s design captures Russell Kennedy’s commitment to creating an expressive, client-centred environment that embodies the firm’s ethos. The thoughtfully crafted spaces serve as a functional workplace and an engaging and welcoming experience for employees and clients alike.
Designing open-plan offices presents challenges in balancing noise control, privacy, flexibility, and employee well-being. Russell Kennedy’s workplace now spans four floors, with a vertical connection accentuated by cascading plants that soften the surrounding spaces. Complementing this natural element, our Cewood wood wool product adds to the design's sense of warmth and texture, contributing to the overall soft, inviting atmosphere.
Cewood is an excellent choice for office environments due to its aesthetic appeal and functional benefits. It is highly effective at absorbing sound, making it ideal for areas where noise control is essential. This was particularly essential for spaces with hospitality amenities, ensuring they are adaptable and functional for meeting areas and other purposes, aligning with the design vision.
The unique texture and warm colour of Cewood add an organic and welcoming touch to office interiors. Its natural appearance helps soften hard surfaces, such as the poured concrete floor and contributes to a balanced, visually pleasing environment.
Cewood also offers thermal insulation; it is one of the most sustainable solutions an architect can opt for. It is fully GECA-certified and holds an EPD that provides all the information you need, including the embodied carbon of the material. It is manufactured from only three simple ingredients: wood fibre, cement, & water – Cewood is also highly customisable and can be used in various applications, such as ceilings, walls, and partitions, offering flexibility in office design. Whether for open spaces, meeting rooms, or private offices, Cewood can be incorporated seamlessly into different layouts.
