Cairns Convention Centre
Cairns Convention Centre, located in the heart of a tropical paradise redefines what a convention centre can be.
Designed by Cox Architecture and CA Architects, the Convention Centre seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor spaces to pay homage to its outdoor surroundings.
The expansion saw an additional 10,500 square metres of space which featured a landscaped undercover area, a new entrance, a lecture hall, meeting rooms, a rooftop banquet venue, a sky terrace and an exhibition space.
DecorLux is a standout feature in this project, as installed in the terrace’s ceiling connecting the outside to the inside. The nature of this fibre cement product allows for outdoor installation due to the durability, moisture resistance, fire compliance and composition of the panels.
Cut to perfection, the rectangular panels were manufactured in our Sydney warehouse and uniquely cut to suit a circular ceiling shape. They blend effortlessly with the outer ceiling. The whiteDecorLux brightens the space and softens the area in contrast to the concrete and black finishes.
Additionally, DecorZen and DecorStyle work harmoniously to provide high acoustic performance in the lecture hall and entrance areas. Utilising our MDF and Plywood substrate offerings, the panels work to blend in with the other design components of the space whilst creating a distinctive feature wall and ceiling. The result is a warm and inviting room with variation in texture and colour.
