Brisbane Grammar School STEAM Precinct
The state-of-the-art Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics precinct (STEAM) showcases a six-storey building covering an area of approximately 16,500m2.
Designed by our good friends at Wilson Architects, the precinct features a 300-seat auditorium, flexible learning spaces, design hubs, chemistry labs and more. The project is at the forefront of modern school facilities.
Wilson’s design framework was centered around connection to the school’s heritage, optimisation of natural light, flexible teaching and learning spaces, accessibility and independent and collaborative student learning. The building pushes the boundaries of multidisciplinary learning, collaboration and teaching.
The futuristic and innovation focused design suitably features Olympia and Metl from our range of metal ceilings. These two products are finished in a customised gold, offering an industrial look that is sleek and modern.
Olympia brings a sense of future-focus and sophistication as exemplified by the unique lines of round apertures and its seamless pattern. The decorative panel creates interesting shadows and lighting effects, adding texture to the cavernous space. Olympia belongs to the Decor Systems metal range meaning it is non-combustible making it ideal for education environments where safety is critical.
Metl is featured on each level of the STEAM building, working seamlessly alongside Olympia. In a custom Powder coat finish, the Metl ceiling creates a seamless transition between Olympia and the other ceiling finishes found in the space.
Metl is carried through to the external ceilings creating a one palette look from inside to out. The heavy-duty and non-combustible nature of Metl means that it is suitable for both indoors and out.
Decor Systems are specialists when it comes to walling and ceiling products for educational spaces and we are thrilled to have again partnered with Wilson Architects as a supplier.
This exemplary project will no doubt shape the future of education design for years to come.
