99 Gawler Place
At Decor Systems, we are passionate about contributing to projects that blend aesthetics with high-performance solutions, creating spaces that inspire and endure. The recent refurbishment of the 99 Gawler Place, delivered in collaboration with Elite, RCP, and Brown Falconer, is a prime example of this commitment.
This revitalised space enhances form and function, seamlessly integrating design elements that elevate the experience for visitors and occupants alike.
Located in the heart of Adelaide, the lobby serves as the welcoming gateway to a 14-level corporate office tower. The design perfectly balances style, acoustics, and comfort, setting a refined tone for the building's dynamic environment. It is a space that serves as a functional entry point and an area where visitors can pause and immerse themselves in a thoughtfully curated atmosphere.
A standout feature of this project is the incorporation of Contours of Country, a striking Indigenous artwork selected to enrich the lobby's design. Created by First Nations artist Toby Bishop, the panel, titled ‘Running Water’ tells the story of the rivers and landscapes that shape Toby Bishop’s home and cultural heritage. Through this artwork, the lobby becomes a canvas for a narrative celebrating the deep connection between people and the land.
This powerful artwork was chosen not only for its cultural significance but also for its commitment to sustainability. Crafted from environmentally responsible materials, Contours of Country meets rigorous standards such as GECA and FSC® certification, ensuring that the artwork aligns with both ecological and ethical principles. It also boasts a Group 1 fire rating and NRC of 0.80. The panels are more than just a visual statement; they contribute to the lobby’s acoustics and overall atmosphere, enriching the space with both aesthetic beauty and functional benefits.
The transformation of the 99 Gawler Place lobby illustrates how thoughtful design and material selection can create a truly immersive experience. Visitors are invited to pause, reflect, and connect—whether with the striking art, the acoustically optimised environment, or the rich cultural heritage of First Nations peoples. This project enhances the workplace experience and underscores the importance of sustainability and cultural awareness in modern design.
