Hutt Street Centre
The recently completed refurbishment of the Hutt Street Centre in South Australia features improvements to the facade of the building, including a new welcoming foyer area, open plan art and recreation space, a private retreat along with medical treatment rooms and amenity upgrades.
Hutt Street Centre is a community centre that provides help to people facing homelessness to assist them as they rebuild their lives, without judgement.
Each year Hutt Street Centre serves up to 40,000 meals and offers social work and support services to nearly 2,000 people. Showers, laundry facilities, visiting health professionals, an aged city living program for their older clients, recreation activities, education and training, legal aid and assistance with finding housing are all services provided to up to 200 people experiencing homelessness each day.
The project aimed to improve the quality of services by enhancing the visual and working amenities of the property for the hundreds of people that Hutt St Centre supports each day.
DecorSlat and DecorSlat Aluminium were used in the space. A seamless look from the building facade through to the foyer was requested so Slat and Slat Aluminium was specified to achieve this. Slat works inside to manage sound reverberation whilst the Slat Aluminium offers a similar look but is appropriate for use outdoors.
