Glen Huntly Primary Gym
Framed by the school’s original red-brick architecture and the greenery of Lord Reserve, Glen Huntly Primary School’s new gymnasium stands as a modern symbol of connection. Designed to bring students, teachers, and the wider community together, the space has evolved into the true heart of the campus.
Far more than a sports hall, it’s a flexible environment for assemblies, performances, and local events, a place that adapts to every moment.
Designing a sports hall like this comes with its challenges. Balancing acoustics, durability, and aesthetics is no small task. Large, open spaces are notoriously difficult to control for sound, while constant activity demands finishes that can withstand impact and wear. The need for flexibility adds another layer of complexity, with the space required to perform just as well for a high-energy basketball game as it does for a quiet school assembly. At Glen Huntly Primary, thoughtful material selection and considered detailing come together to meet these demands.
Décor Systems supplied a combination of DecorSlat, DecorStyle, and DecorZen panels throughout the gymnasium, all finished in Tasmanian Oak SmartLook to achieve a warm, natural aesthetic with superior performance.
Paired with this is our DecorStyle range - solid decorative panels, finished in Smartlook Plantation Oak, Black Oak, and Wenge. These smooth timber panels celebrate the natural variation of wood, helping compact spaces feel more open and expansive, while bringing warmth and character to larger, colder interiors.
Both acoustic solutions are certified by GECA, FSC ®, and Supply Nation, reinforcing our commitment to sustainability and responsible sourcing. We were proud to collaborate closely with C+P Linings to ensure timely delivery and precise, high-quality installation throughout the project.
The end result speaks for itself: beautifully installed products that deliver outstanding acoustic performance, creating a space that is not only highly functional but also visually stunning.

Frenshams School recently underwent a modernisation designed by TKD Architects. The Two-court Sports Hall will deliver timber-sprung floors, competition and standard-size netball/basketball courts, change rooms and amenities, a canteen kitchen, reception, and storage space. Decor Systems was proud to provide acoustic solutions for this space with DecorZen Trend®. This is the perfect acoustic solution that integrates seamlessly into large-scale classical, contemporary or high-tech architectural design.
The criteria for the acoustics in this project included a 0.70 NRC Rating, impact resistance to allow for panels to absorb 'knocks' in the sports hall, a tight construction schedule and budgetary requirements. The innovative team at Bollig Design in partnership with Decor Systems were able to fulfil all these requirements. Custom coloured SmartLook laminate finishes were used to save costs (considerably cheaper than 2-pac polyurethane finishes) without compromising the acoustic or aesthetic features.
