What is a Responsible Product Value (RPV)?

The Responsible Product Value (RPV) is a scoring system developed by the Green Building Council of Australia (GBCA) as part of the Responsible Products Framework. It is designed to reward the use of materials with lower environmental and social impacts in Green Star certified projects.

Products that meet certain sustainability standards, such as those certified by Good Environmental Choice Australia (GECA), are assigned an RPV score. This score contributes to Green Star credits, helping architects, designers, and builders achieve their sustainability goals.

How Does GECA Certification Affect RPV?

GECA is one of the recognised certification bodies under the GBCA’s Responsible Products Framework. When a product is certified under GECA’s Panel Boards (PB v3.0-2021) standard, it receives an RPV score between 10-14.

What This Means for Decor Systems Products

If you are specifying Decor Systems’ GECA-certified acoustic panel products, they are eligible for an RPV score of 10-14, meaning they contribute positively toward a Green Star rating. This ensures compliance with sustainability targets while delivering high-performance acoustic solutions.

Decor Systems products are GECA certified

How to Verify the RPV of Your Specification

If you’re working on a Green Star project and need to confirm the RPV of Decor Systems’ products, follow these steps:

  1. Check the Certification – Ensure the specified product is GECA-certified under PB v3.0-2021.
  2. Use the Responsible Products Score Checker – The GBCA Score Checker lists GECA-certified panel boards with an RPV of 10-14.
  3. Contact Our Team – If you need documentation or further clarification, we’re happy to assist.

Why This Matters for Sustainable Building

By choosing GECA-certified products like Decor Systems’ acoustic panels, you are making an environmentally responsible choice that aligns with Green Star criteria, ensuring:

  • Lower environmental impact
  • Compliance with sustainable procurement standards
  • Improved indoor air quality and material health

If you’re reviewing your Green Star specification and need assistance with RPV information, get in touch with our team for expert guidance.
