The University of Western Sydney, Bankstown Campus, recently finished construction of a brand new block of lecture halls, classrooms and study areas, creating an environment encouraging education and learning amongst its students. Designed by Baker Kavanagh Architects, this state of the art building uses fresh colours in conjunction with natural timbers to achieve an aesthetic that is conducive with the needs of the new students attending this campus.
A large quantity DecorZen and DecorStyle panels were used in several locations to create quiet study zones, allowing for work to occur without interruption from the passing students. The Decor Systems Acoustic panels were also used in small study rooms, lecture halls and open gathering areas, providing the best acoustics favorable to a learning environment while adding an aesthetic vibrancy with the selection of vibrant colours.
This new facility, opened by Mr Christopher Pyne, Minister of Education, is a modern step forward for the education of recent school graduates in NSW and the design will be iconic for years to come with the right fusion of learning space and social areas.
Environmentally sustainable design was a key requirement on this project, and the Baker Kavanagh Architects delivered a stunning project that incorporated the key points of a green rating building. The DecorZen and DecorStyle panels used ensure sustainable design through the use of low VOC paint and being GECA certified.
