Museum of Australian Democracy – Old Parliament House, Canberra, ACTVogl
The Museum of Australian Democracy, located in Old Parliament House, is a building of national significance both historically and symbolically being situated prominently on the land axis of the National Capital within the Parliamentary Zone.
Renowned architects Daryl Jackson Alastair Swayne were attracted to the VOGL seamless product for this landmark project for both cost and acoustic considerations. A black, and totally unobtrusive, acoustic ceiling was required, in keeping with the design requirements.
A custom run of black core dyed VOGL was manufactured, thus eliminating the ‘gypsum white’ ensuring the design integrity of the project, as well as meeting the requirements of budget, time-frames, acoustic performance and seamless appearance that was looked for.
The finished project is a stunning interior space that meets the needs of the client as well as the decorative and acoustic requirements. The black core to the acoustic plaster brings warmth into the space and well as form and function.
