Originally opened in 1865, major renovations were carried out on the building including a refurbishment to the existing building and the construction of a modern three level extension containing a secure basement carpark and two levels of office space for the Catholic Education Offices in Toowoomba. The former indoor sport centre was also converted into a conference hall with the ability to accommodate the Catholic Diocese’ large staff numbers.
Decor Systems liaised closely in the early stages of this project, providing design input, technical advice and specification advice to ensure the design and acoustic intent was realized. Once the project was awarded to McNab Constructions, we assisted the on-site team with panel layout changes as required on site to accommodate site conditions and amendments.
Featuring DecorTrend slotted timber acoustic panels and DecorStyle panels, all laid up with Hoop Pine on an MDF substrate, along with DecorSorb acoustic textile bonded to the rear of the panels and pre-finished in DecorThane Clear, meaning an total integrated acoustic package was supplied.
Decor Systems worked closely with the installer to deliver these panels inside a very tight timeframe and to reduce the lead time ensuring no hold ups on site. Slot perforations were customized for each panel to ensure consistent perforations and borders despite all panels being different sizes. Assembly drawings were produced to for a final check prior to manufacturing.
The result is a beautiful light airy space with real warmth and character.
